jqln. BOUTIQUE OPENS IN BORDEAUX
By Crash redaction
Delphine Caucé is the founder of new Bordeaux boutique ‘jqln.‘ pronounced ‘Jacqueline’. The name is inspired by the evocations of this female first name, which is common in France, as well as in England and America; ‘charming, chic, free-spirited and funny, generous and sensual, inspiring and a little bit retro, a creature of class who’s style is impeccable.’ Jackie O springs to mind, the infamous style queen and first lady, wife of J.F. Kennedy.
Caucé opened the boutique, which houses an exclusive set of handpicked items from hard to find and lesser known designers including; The Row, Jil Sander, Lanvin, and JW Anderson among others; all brought together in a 70s inspired, cosy store, in the heart of Bordeaux’ old town.
After years of working and consulting for brands such as Chloé, Loewe, and, notably, Balenciaga during the Ghesquière era, Delphine is a woman who knows a thing or two about the business, utilising her knowledge and industry insiders to select multiple artists, creators and designers, brining them together all under one roof. It’s about much more than selling clothes, with special attention going to introducing emerging talents, particularly those that are Made in France, for example the young brand Cahu, which specialises in colourful totes made from upcycled PVC.
A lifestyle above all else, Caucé quotes; authenticity, simplicity and humour as being key values at jqln. The ‘cabinet of curiosities’ found in the imagined bathroom, appeases to this playfulness and exploratory nature. Inviting an array of designers and artists each season to inhabit the space, this season will feature Marina Chastenet, accessories designer and artist, who has created a collection of unique necklaces and bags especially for the boutique.
All the treasures can be found in store at 23 rue de ruat, Bordeaux. Head to www.jqlnstore.com to discover more.
