Bella Hadid Is Bringing Back the Bobble Hair Ties of Your Childhood

Growing up, I remember bobble hair ties dominating the hair aisle at Walmart (a spot I frequented with my mom to get the latest toys) and the heads of my preschool classmates. I haven’t seen one in anybody’s hair since I was a kid — but apparently, Bella Hadid decided to bring them back.

In a 10-part photo slideshow that the model posted to Instagram on December 20, Hadid was shown wearing a hot pink iteration of the nostalgic hair accessory with four plastic balls while collecting Christmas presents for kids in Manhattan and Brooklyn. She was also sporting a dark brown hair clip atop a braid.

The vibe for the model’s hair was completely casual, as opposed to just last week when the model showed off a loopy-doopy hairstyle that probably took hours to perfect. Hadid has also shown her penchant for wigs on both Instagram and TikTok, with her most recent one being a neon orange bob

The model’s intention for wearing the bobble hair tie probably wasn’t to start a trend and pay homage to a retro, youthful accessory. It was most likely just a convenient and cute elastic to keep her hair tied back. But Hadid’s look serves as a friendly reminder that, yes, ball hair ties still exist to this day, and they still look cute to wear — even when you’re no longer five years old.
