5 Best Places for Jewelry Shopping in Paris
Spring feels far away right now, but it’ll be here before we know it. And there’s something about the wind-down time of winter and the lead-in to spring that always has me thinking about one thing: Fashion. Okay, two things: Fashion and sparkly jewels.
Spring is a time of blooming and growing and trying new things, so why not try out some new jewelry looks on your next trek through Paris? Here are some of our favorite jewelry stores in the City of Light, where you’re sure to find some phenomenal pieces to drape around your body, adding even more glitz and glam to the Paris city streets!
362 Rue St Honoré, 75001
At Dary’s, a Place Vendôme-adjacent shop, you’re bound to find some incredible vintage jewelry pieces, including a selection of jewels dating back to the 1920s. You’ll also discover some unique and fanciful finds here, too. You may even feel like you’ve stepped back in time, to Josephine Baker’s Paris. Fodors calls it an “Ali Baba–ish shopping experience.”
8 Rue des Saussaies, 75008
Valois Vintage is another crème-de-la-crème spot for vintage jewels in Paris. Vogue calls it a “must visit,” and who are we to argue with the bible of fashion? Here, you’ll find classics from Chanel, Hermès, and other French houses of great renown. Vogue says this spot is “brimming with rare treasures and contemporary must-haves.” Personally, I can’t get myself there fast enough.
2 Rue du Marché Saint-Honoré, 75001
Au Vase de Delft is a gem of a boutique and offers an incredible array of antique jewelry from brooches to jewel sets dating all the way back to the 18th century. The shop’s expert salespeople are also reportedly top-notch when it comes to advice for buying gifts for yourself or a loved one.
9 Rue de la Paix, 75002
Mellerio dits Meller has been called an “oasis” of jewelry shopping. And on Rue de la Paix, you’ll find other delectable shops like this one. Mellerio was founded in 1613 and claims to be the oldest jewelry shop in the world. It’s located in the heart of Paris’s jewelry district on Rue de la Paix.
This shop has had some very famous shoppers, including Queen Victoria and Marie Antoinette herself. At Mellerio, you’ll find everything from stunning engagement rings to high-end luxury items. The price tags on the jewels here might make you gasp, but where’s the fun in life if you don’t live a little and spend on things you love?
23 Pl. Vendôme, 75001
Obviously, we can’t talk about jewelry and not mention Cartier, the famous watchmaker and jeweler. This luxury brand was founded in 1847, and it remains a gold standard for quality in the luxury jewelry business.
In the South of France
And, if you happen to be in the south of France, you’ll want to seek out Nathalie Dmitrovic, artist and creator of French sculptural and extraordinary jewelry. Her jaw-dropping pieces are one of a kind.
