Lizzo Serves ’60s Girl Group Realness at SXSW 2022 With a Flipped-Up Lob
Lizzo has shown us that can she travel back in time — or at the very least, her hair can. Case in point: that time she took it back to the 1970s by way of a gorgeous, shimmering Afro for her stint as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race in January. Now, it looks like the singer has headed even further back to the 1960s with a lob she debuted at the 2022 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 13. As usual, the social media queen took to TikTok to show off her look.
The singer’s long bob extends down to her shoulders, and in true ’60s fashion, has a tight, flipped-up curl at the ends. Just like her look for Drag Race, the ode to the ’60s extended to her outfit, too. On the fashion front, the decade was all about checkered prints and bright colors, and Lizzo delivered both with her paint chip-checkered dress, tights, and boots. She’s wearing pretty much every color of the rainbow. Pantone has 24 hours to respond.
What would a colorful outfit be without a bold eye shadow moment? A wash of bright orange and light red appear decorate the singer’s lids. The vibrant eye shadow was accompanied by some winged eyeliner and voluminous eyelashes.
We’ll be taking guesses as to which decade Lizzo will be traveling to next hair-wise, but we’re thinking that the 1980s may be it. Like the ’70s, big hair was everything, and we think Lizzo would look absolutely amazing with some ‘80s-style curls. Let Lizzo’s example serve as a reminder that hair trends of the past are equally as incredible as the trends of today.
