AMI SPRING/SUMMER 2023

By Crash redaction

Alexandre Mattiussi’s Spring-Summer 23 collection is rich, sexy and eclectic, with a deliciously retro vibe of the 60s. The ever-evolving sense of style of AMI is constantly pushed forward by the vibrant energy and diversity of the multicultural metropole that is Paris. The collection perfectly captures the iconic allure and free-spirited mood of Montmartre and its people: where refined bourgeoisie elegance meets cosmopolitan bohemian eclecticism and street-smart casual. Shapes are pure and uncomplicated, refreshingly graphic in cut and proportion, whilst preserving the DNA of AMI. Always a wardrobe concept, it boasts a mix of genres, to alternate, mix and match. Feminine styles range from body hugging pieces to relaxed with ease. Unisex clothes are casually oversized, with a nonchalant attitude. While masculine silhouettes are defined by authentic fits, highly considered and pragmatic in use.The colors this season juxtapose and associates traditional sophisticated colors (stone grey, nautical blue) with delicate touches of light summery pastels (natural white, vanilla beige, sky blue, candy pink) and retro, pop primary tones (ever green, scarlet red, royal blue). Prints and motives feature stripes, gingham and windowpane checks, all-over hearts and fine polka dots; the overall effect is graphic, with an audacious retro hint. A rich mix between various wools such as tricotine and bouclette, summery fibers (cotton sateen and silk blends) and an extensive lush selection of denim. Lavish fantasies add touch of opulent lux in the form of glossy textures and gradient sequins embroideries. Le Besace Bag is the bag of the season: both its heritage shape and its elegant simplicity provide a nostalgic aspect that contrasts with its contemporary cool. Its lines, its curves, are harmonious and very feminine, contrasting with its clasp – a playful presentation of the Ami de Cœur, AMI’s renowned heart-crowned A. A new take on Le Voulez-Vous bag further enriches the accessories line, proposed in a fancy range of new materials, including, on top of the original soft leather, a woven leather, as well as a denim jacquard and summery raffia.
